Ellie Update: Multiculturalism

[My brother and I in colour coded Baju's]

Today was international day at my school and it most definitely has to be one of the most colourful days of the year!
The wide variety of costumes that students would wear, really did reflect the cosmopolitan image of the school. I am so fortunate to be attending the school that I am and today only reconfirmed that!

Most of the countries that we all live in are becoming increasingly more cosmopolitan and are exposing us to a huge range of cultural aspects of various nationalities. This is an ethos that my school strives to present to the students; a key aspect of attending an international school.

For the day, my family dressed up in our take on traditional Malay attire with my mum and I wearing Baju Kebayas and my dad and brother wearing Baju Melayu.

Conference Couture

In only two weeks I will be flying to Singapore (once again) for a Model united Nations conference! However, this one is very much a different scenario to the others as this one is The Hague International Model United Nations, which is probably one of the biggest in South East Asia!
I honestly don't think I have ever been this excited! One of my favourite things about these conferences, besides being able to argue and debate, but dressing up in a professional manner.
Many of us are rarely able to dress up formally, so I am definitely excited about being able to wear some of my new purchases!
Here are some of my new dresses for the conference:

Both dresses are from Dorothy Perkins, I'm not sure why but the cut of the dresses in there seem to suit me well! The shoes are from New Look and the only accessory is my Tiffany open heart necklace, simple and classic.
I'm so excited! Have you guys got any exciting events coming up soon?

Confessions of a Shopaholic: Beauty Edition

Hello lovelies,

About a week ago, my family and I took off for a whirlwind trip around Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and unlike Brunei, KL had much more to offer shopping wise!

So basically, everyday involved us visiting some sort of mall, whether it be big, small or just plain fancy. However, this did cause an unfortunate rapid deterioration in my bank account! Although, I do have some purchases that I am in love with at the moment!

[Topshop makeup- Isn't the packaging so pretty?]

[I love the scarlet hue of 'Hazard' and the subtle tone to 'Rumour Has It']

[Sheer lip glosses from Forever 21]

[Basic full-sized Tweezerman tweezers. The best tweezers in the world]

[Revlon lipstick in Blush and mascara in Sexy Curves; Full Figure. The lipstick actually smells really nice, it's like scented!]

[I am addicted to Baby Lips by Maybelline and am on a mission to collect them all! They honestly do work!]

[I know these are accessories, but I caught them in a sale and the designs are actually so precious and classy]

[Victoria's Secret body sprays all smell phenomenal to say the least, and these two are my current favourites!]

Of course, I did buy different things as well as makeup, but that will have to be another post!

Style Idol: Cher Lloyd

Good evening,

I know I have been forgetful with my recent postings, so I decided to whack a load in!

Cher Lloyd has seriously been a style inspiration to me lately, as she always comes up with the cutest outfits!

Which look is your favourite? I love the one where she is in her sweats as well as the white dress she wore for her fragrance launch, very Marilyn Monroe chic.

Kendall Jenner for Genlux Magazine

I am completely in love with Kendall Jenner's photoshoot for Genlux magazine. I love how she has completely broken away from the current Kardashian sex-bomb image and has entered the world of high fashion.
I simply adore the cover of the magazine, her eyes seem to just stare into my soul!

Sumptuous Sushi Delights

One thing that I am in adoration of is Japanese food. The eclectic combination of flavours and textures really provides a culinary experience like no other.
Recently, I ate at a restaurant called 'Kaizen' and the food there was simply divine. I have never seen such an extensive menu at a Japanese restaurant. The huge variety of sashimi options, expansive amounts of maki and also the voluminous  selection of teppanyaki options all looked amazing! This made choosing my meal even harder. In the end, we settled on a variety of sushi with individual salmon teriyaki sets.

{Cheese maki, Sake (salmon) maki, Salmon wrapped cheese ebiko maki and avocado maki}

{Roast beef and asparagus maki}

{Salmon belly teriyaki, coleslaw, fresh fruits, rice and miso soup}

Overall the meal was absolutely divine and the combination of textures and flavours was absolutely amazing. It was definitely one of the best Japanese dining experiences so far.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley; Yay or Nay?

One of my favourite articles in the ELLE UK September Issue was the photo shoot and interview with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Rosie has to be one of my favourite models as she really does have a unique beauty. I adored her in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows and sincerely hope that she walks in the November 2012 show!
Her spread in ELLE was amazing and I shall be savouring that issue for a long time.
What do you think? Isn't her hair just amazing?

Zesty Cupcakes

When boredom strikes, I bake so I made vanilla cupcakes with marbled dark chocolate and a lemon buttercream icing. I just love experimenting with different recipes and the lemon buttercream is just a simple twist on the classic buttercream icing.

{I used a cocktail stick dipped in chocolate to create the marbled effect}

{Orange zest was sprinkled on the icing to run with the citrus theme}

My icing was definitely not quite up to scratch yet but, hey, the look yummy!

Mocktail Madness

Today I attended a cooking class specialising in mocktails! I had a fabulous time and really enjoyed the opportunity to make some yummy and healthy drinks! I'm not entirely sure how they are mocktails as none of them are the classics; most of them are more like smoothies.
The class was taught by a lovely bartender who even gave us tips on making them cocktails!  Needless to say that all of these mocktails are delicious yet so simple.

{A blended combination of Apple Juice, Honeydew juice, Orange juice and 7-Up creates a Rainforest Magic}

{Watermelon juice, Pineapple juice, Lemon juice and a touch of sugar syrup makes up an Empire Delight}

{Now this drink is my favourite; a Coconut Mango Bomb. Made from Coconut cream, vanilla ice-cream, milk, mango juice and ice, all blended together}

{This Carrot, Orange and Coriander concoction is made from simply carrot, orange and coriander!}

{Apple, Celery and carrot}

{Blend cranberry juice, pineapple juice, Soda water and vanilla ice cream to create Holiday Punch}

{Summer Memories is definitely a smoothie fit for summer with a simple blend of peaches, vanilla ice cream, rasberries and fresh milk}
