An Instagram Weekend: Derbyshire Wedding

As many of you are aware, I've been to Derbyshire and if you've been tracking #elliegoestoderbyshire you will know I also attended a wedding!

I had an absolutely fantastic time and a picture really does say a thousand words so I'll let them do the talking!

Arriving on the Monday, I spent a week which consisted of long walks, being chased by cows, walking, cooing at sheep, more walking and finally the wedding!

As wedding photos come out, I'll post more from then but I wore a H&M dress, H&M cardigan, ASOS clutch and New Look suede nude heels - my hair was in halo braids which you can find in the beauty section of my blog!

Tricky Tartan

Tartan is in trend. And if you reacted the same way as I did to that sentence, your face would mirror that of disgust, with your nose scrunched and eyebrows pulled down. Tartan is such a tricky pattern to wear as you risk either looking full on goth or like you belong in the hills of Scotland and unfortunately, I have born witness to both disasters on the streets of Manchester.

But despite any initial woes, there are ways to wear this trend without looking like you belong in the "What not to wear" column of People magazine, you can do this, the two of us shall venture into the world of tartan and emerge looking on trend and undeniably cute. And whats best is that we can do this on a budget.

[This Zara Tartan cape worn over a slinky H&M Jumpsuit teamed with a H&M felt cap and clutch is perfect for a smart casual evening in the city - swap those Miu Miu Loafers for a more reasonably priced pair of statement flats and you're good to go! Try pairing a statement tartan item with more neutral pieces for an on trend yet sophisticated look.]

[Try a tartan scarf with an all black outfit for both a pop of colour and a little edge. We all have those days where we feel like going darker and the red tartan scarf brings an edge. Primark sells red tartan scarves for £5, so there is no need to break the bank!]

[These tartan slacks from H&M are not dissimilar to the much more expensive equivalent from Zara and to be honest, it is difficult to tell the difference! If red isn't your colour, opt for a blue tartan and tone it down with a cream slouchy jumper and oversized plain black coat. Throw on a pair of chunky chelsea boots and a simple black handbag and you are good to go! For extra edge, pick up a set of midi rings which are everywhere - they feel a bit odd at first but do add something extra to your outfit!]

[Yet another tartan trousers and cream jumper combination; if it is a bit warmer where you are, swap the trousers for a statement tartan skirt (you can find these everywhere including Zara and Topshop), making the outfit more casual with clubmasters and some loafers which are definitely a wardrobe essential!]

For more sets, follow my polyvore!

Are you going to take a risk this season and invest in a statement tartan piece or play it safe with a plaid accessory? Let me know in the comments below!

There are definitely some items that will be investment buys, but overall there are several items that were so reasonable that I was astounded by the price! I am so excited!!!! So much of this has been inspired by my addiction to Made in Chelsea and I most defintiely am aiming to never end up looking like I am without a home, especially as that is unfortunately how many people are dressing at the moment! That is probably one of the key reasons behind my need(!) for more than one blazer, as you can wear it with anything: a dress or thrown with some skinny jeans. Thankfully I will be living in a city, Manchester, so I can get away with dressing nicely without looking out of place! One thing that I am looking forward to the most is being able to take my own streetstyle posts and being able to venture into the city on my lonesome and take pictures of people!

Sorry for this post being a bit of a me me me, but I didn't intend it to be!

Polyvore Moments

Polyvore is one of those magical websites full of creative design concepts for outfits for any occasion ever. I love how outfits are divided into a theme with various things like Starbucks and flowers and phrases. I adore the concept but adore even more the ideas that people come up with. Commendations to all those who take the time to put together these outfits!
My favourite ones have to be the 1st one because it is actually something that I would wear, literally and second the one with the purple stilettos and little black dress and finally the all pink/peach ensemble. All of the outfits that have been selected are lovely, but my favourite picks are ones that I would actually wear! The inspiration that outfit ideas like this provides is immense and Polyvore is actually one of my top website choices before I go out for a function or dinner simply to provide a bit of insight as to what I should wear! If you haven't heard of it, I recommend that you give it a shot. It may take a couple of times to get used to it, but it is worth it!

A Polyvore Collection

Following my recent discovery of polyvore, I have enjoyed compiling outfit ideas following any inspiration that other users may provide.
Here are a few looks below perfect for any summer or fall day!
[Don't you just adore the bright combinations of colour all tying in with the idea of sunflowers. This just has such a summery feel to it. Perfect for a day out in the city.]

[This look is just perfect for an evening out with the girls, not too dressy but still casual. I adore aviator sunglasses which add a boyish charm to this otherwise very feminine outfit]

[Now this outfit just screams city class. The simple monochromatic look presents the idea of a city slicker, very cool and collected.]

[Perfect for a day out in the fall. The comfort of an oversized knit jumper with simple acid wash jeans still provides a presentable front but still provides ultimate comfort]

[A glorious outfit for a summers day with the simplicity of a highwaisted short skirt and black crop top paired with sandals. The colourblocking here adds a fashion forward edge whilst still being in keeping with a simple look]

[The simplicity of the pastel colours with denim highwaisted shorts here is enough to make me love the outfit]

[This very hippie chic look would suit many of my friends with a gorgeous tall, stick thin figure; one that I shall be eternally jealous of!]

[This very Miley Cyrus- esque outfit really embodies the punk rock chic that she has paired beautifully with her new bleached locks]

Thai Designers Fashion Feature: Disaya

Disaya's latest pre-Spring/Summer 2013 collection is simply divine and her theme of 'Merry-Goes-Around' is really reflected in the designs.

I love the flirty style of the dresses especially the colour scheme. The outfits are just so cute and perfect for everyday!
Once again, the simplicity of the designs and the little details have created a collection that should be in the next W (hopefully we'll see this in soon)!

I am sorry to say that this will be my last featured Thai designer!

Summer Fashion: Handling the Heat

I hate humidity. Don’t get me wrong, I love a beautiful summer day just like everyone else, but I can not stand the feeling of sweat dripping down my back, clothing clinging to me, or having to constantly re-adjust due to the uncomfortableness heat forces on me. Clothing should allow you to express yourself and sometimes the high temperatures can make it seem almost impossible to do so. Luckily, there are many different stylish options to combat the heat all at very reasonable prices. As you all know by now, I am on a beach holiday so some of these looks may not be able to be worn in the city!
Just like maxi dresses but cooler…literally. The high-low silhouette is super on trend this season and a great way to beat summer heat. Long flowy fabrics create a breeze within the garment and pairing them with a shorter hem just enhances this. High-low dresses can be found at every extreme, from long trains to super short front and everything in between. Also, because of their versatility, these dresses can easily be dressed up, for a date night, or dressed down, for a music or art festival. What’s not to love?

Shorts, and bottoms in general, are really taking center stage this season. Shorts can be found in many different styles this summer. From different prints, prints, colors, materials– shorts leave you with endless options for a cool summer look. With the right length, shorts can remain classy while still giving your legs room to breathe.
There are many different styles of tops this season to beat the summer heat. Crop tops are making a huge come back and are a fantastic way to stay chic and cool. These type of tops also provide an opportunity for a fun DIY project. Try taking some of your old tees and cutting them up to make your very own crop/cut-out top!
Whether worn alone or under tops, like the ones described above, bandeaus are the perfect solution to tastefully show some skin. Because bandeaus can be worn alone, they give you the ability to not have to deal with the inconvenience of wearing camisoles or tanks under your tops, which can really add on heat in the summer. A bandeau does suffice as an undergarment but it should not be regarded in the same way. Unlike a bra, It’s ok, and actually kind of encouraged, to have your bandeau show through your top.
Rompers, like dresses, are a super easy way to stay comfortably cool in the summer. However, unlike dresses, rompers give you the freedom to move around anyway you want, which can make all the difference when it’s hot out. Rompers are a  whole outfit in one and are effortlessly cool. With the right styling, they can be appropriate for a number of occasions.
Wide brim hats are not only super stylish but they’re also practical. The wide brim of the hat will give you the protection and shade that you need from the hot summer sun. Although these hats are definitely a statement piece, they’re extremely easy to integrate into your everyday look. For a feminine vibe, try a light-colored hat in white, tan, or a pastel, and pin a hair flower around the band. For an edgier look, try tying a scarf in a bold color or print, around a hat in a contrasting colour.
You can beat the heat and stay cool this summer without sacrificing style or putting a strain on your wallet. Which way is your favorite to dress for this scorching weather?

Look for Less: Whitney Port

Style Idol: Whitney Port

Whitney Port has such amazing style that I felt that I should write a post about her.
She has a unique boho style which is so simple yet put together.
Below are some of my favourite looks:

I really love her in all outfits above as she looks simply gorgeous. My favourite look of hers is with the blue shirt and beige trousers. It is such a simple outfit yet she really adds something to it making it more sophisticated and glamourous.

Festival Fashion Style Idol: Millie Mackintosh

Made in Chelsea is one of my favourite shows and Millie Mackintosh is definitely my favourite character!
I absolutely adore everything she does and love her fashion sense. Recently, the tabloids have been full of her festival exploits and her outfits of choice, I decided to compile a post which includes my favourite festival looks of hers.
*Note* Not all outfits are from 2012*

Making dressing for downpours and mud-soaked fields look like a walk in the park, Millie has nailed festival style.

Key to her look? Non-try-hard pieces like denim shorts and classic Hunter wellies – with a little bit of Chelsea bling in the form of silver studs – and the finishing touch, an amazing statement jacket. What, no cag in a bag? As if!

Here, Millie completely embodies rocker festival chic with a teeny tiny pair of denim shorts, a purple gilet, aviator sunglasses, studded hunter wellies and a trilby hat.
