Ellie Update: Multiculturalism

[My brother and I in colour coded Baju's]

Today was international day at my school and it most definitely has to be one of the most colourful days of the year!
The wide variety of costumes that students would wear, really did reflect the cosmopolitan image of the school. I am so fortunate to be attending the school that I am and today only reconfirmed that!

Most of the countries that we all live in are becoming increasingly more cosmopolitan and are exposing us to a huge range of cultural aspects of various nationalities. This is an ethos that my school strives to present to the students; a key aspect of attending an international school.

For the day, my family dressed up in our take on traditional Malay attire with my mum and I wearing Baju Kebayas and my dad and brother wearing Baju Melayu.

'A Real Beauty': Miranda Kerr by Tom Munro

Miranda Kerr features in the latest Vogue Italia editorial shoot for the October 2012 issue.

In the 6- page spread, the Victoria's Secret model trades in her usual luscious brown tresses to a more edgy platinum blonde coiffure.

The semi nude shoot is completely gorgeous and really adds a touch of class to what would typically be considered 'trashy'.
In front of Tom Munro's lens, Miranda wows in denim and metallic looks selected by fashion editor Ludivine Poiblanc. Captured in black and white, the gorgeous Australian model is a far cry from her usual Victorias Secret shots.
There is no denying that Miranda Kerr is simply stunning, but although the blonde hair suits her in black and white, I'm not too sure how she would pull it off in full colour.

So, do blondes really have more fun, Miranda?

Harrods Designer Princess Collection

The likes of Versace and Valentino have joined forces with eight other elite names to create their own themed piece to ensure we can relive the magic of Disney. The gowns will be officially unveiled at the Knightsbridge store on 1st November, but today they have released sketches from each designer as well as a video featuring the dresses with fairytale results.
Elie Saab fell for romantic ruffles with an embellished dress for Sleeping Beauty and Marchesa took on the responsibility of taking Ariel from The Little Mermaid into the modern day and did so swimmingly with a deep blue silk dress.
"Encapsulating the natural grace and innocence of Aurora, this beautiful gown in pale pink is embellished with scattered exquisite beading." - Harrods
"A chic and elegant deep blue silk evening gown has been beautifully crafted to combine luxurious draped fabrics, which perfectly embody modern feminine style - capturing Ariel's adventurous under-the-sea spirit." - Harrods

Versace sexed up Cinderella in a golden frock fit for a princess complete with signature Medusa motifs. Where as Valentino kept Belle from Beauty and the Beast ultra-feminine with chiffon pleats. Rapunzel had her make-over in the hands of Jenny Packman who untangled herself from the Kate Middleton connections to make a pale grey dress.
"'You shall go to the ball', in a stunning contemporary interpretation complete with golden layers, a tiara, a bold statement-necklace and of course, glass slippers - emblazoned with the iconic Versace medusa motif." - Harrods

"A fantasy-like dress in silk chiffon with a sheer hooded cape and layers of exquisite pleats, is accessorised with bespoke signature studded flats and a silver flower bag." - Harrods

"A magical dress in pale grey adorned with incredible beading that should never be locked away." - Harrods

Oscar de la Renta went classic for Snow White who wears a bejeweled bodice, while the Pocahontas-themed gown features prints and feathers created by Roberto Cavalli.
"'Someday your prince will come…' This silk gown is divine with intricate embroidery across the bejewelled bodice and a floor-sweeping cape in signature red." - Harrods
"Featuring soft, golden and natural earthy colours, this gown incorporates prints evocative of dream catchers with pearl detailing. The lightness of a feather and the wings of a butterfly, it is perfect for a princess in love with freedom." - Harrods

The job of creating Jasmine from Aladdin, Mulan and Tina from the Princess and the Frog falls to EscadaMissoni and Ralph & Russo respectively.
"An exotic fuchsia silk chiffon gown encompasses the fiery beauty of Jasmine, complete with an extravagant golden flower belt." - Harrods

"A land of silk and jade has inspired this oriental kimono-style dazzling creation, that features bold turquoise shades and red detailing."- Harrods

"A dream come true, this mint evening gown with a sweetheart neckline and mesh overlay, features scattered crystals that cascade into a layered tulle skirt."- Harrods

It’s pure fashion magic.

Look for Less: Cher Lloyd

Hiya!

Someone that I've recently fallen in love with is Cher Lloyd.
I not only adore her new album 'Sticks and Stones' but her style! She really embodies rocker-chic which is simply fabulous!

What do you think of her look here? I love it! Only Cher could pull off that hair!

My favourite look of her's has to be in her new 'Want U Back' Video (US Edition).

She looks absolutely amazing with her shorter curled hair and has really taken a more feminine direction, not dissimilar to her previous X Factor mentor, Cheryl Cole.

Which look is your favourite?
