The Cleansing Balm On A Budget

[Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter from The Body Shop. £12]

It's no secret that cleansing balms are the new 'it' product amongst the beauty world at the moment - the Emma Harding one in particular but unfortunately spending upwards of £30 on a beauty product makes me quake in fear but I want it.

I have oily skin and anything with the label 'balm', 'butter', 'oil' or all of the above had me running in the opposite direction; convinced that if I so much as came into contact with it, my skin would hate me forever. But in the colder months, my skin craves moisture and takes a swift turn into dry skin alley. Hence the above product.

It is phenomenal. The consistency is so rich and moisturising whilst also ridding your face of every single last scrap of makeup. This is honestly the first product I've found that completely takes off all that mascara and prevents a severe case of panda eyes the next morning.

Sumptuous butter describes it completely and you don't need a lot for it to work - simply rub a bit between your fingers to make it melt a bit and massage it into your skin and then wipe it off with the damp washcloth. The best part is seeing your eye makeup dissolve around your eyes and turn them black and voila, they're clean and your skin is soft and free of product. Plus, it has a lovely subtle floral scent!

I would definitely recommend it as a cheaper alternative to the Emma Harding one as it does the exact same thing without the hefty price tag.

Cocktails in the Sky: Little Black Dress Collection Launch

One of the most exciting things about being a blogger is being invited to events like these, and if the event includes champagne and canapés, I'm there. I was recently invited to the launch of Little Black Dress' new collection which is all named after icons that you're sure to recognise like Princess Diana, Carrie from Sex and the City, Alexa Chung, Victoria Beckham and the list goes on! Each dress is designed with that icon in mind whether its based off of a dress they've worn or a culmination of trends they typically wear - it's uncanny how easy it is to guess which dress represents who! An LBD is an absolute wardrobe essential and Little Black Dress has numerous dresses available and with each iconic dress being so unique - you're bound to find one you like! My personal favourites were the Diana and Marilyn dress (see pictures below).

The evening on a whole was lovely and the team over at Little Black Dress and Fluorescent PR were fantastic - everyone was enjoying themselves, and the room was buzzing! Thank you so much for putting on a smashing event!

I also got to finally meet some of my fellow Manchester bloggers like Jasmine, Amy, Nisha, Maria and Emma whose blogs I read anyway! They're all such lovely girls so please go check their blogs out!

Autumnal Favourites

The clouds outside my window are ominous and with that is a sure sign of Autumn making it's presence known - I've been drenched at least three times this week with that horrible mist that Mancunians know as rain. Great fun. Time to bring out the waterproof mascara methinks.

But, that means that worries of getting too hot and sweaty have gone and my favourite jumpers have been dusted off as it's time to layer. With university, I'm not going to be too hot with the fashion posts but beauty posts are easy to do but I'll do my best.

I haven't done a beauty favourites in a while so I thought I would share things I've been loving and will continue to love throughout the cooler months. A couple of days ago I finally ran out of my typically favourite autumnal nail polish, Revlon's 'Vixen'. It's such a rich deep berry red on the blue spectrum and is almost feisty. But alas, there was not a drop left in the bottle and I had two choices, repurchase and be boring or logon to lookfantastic.com. Guess what I did. I ordered a couple of items from Tanya Burr's makeup line. Tanya Burr is the only youtuber I consistently watch and in her recent vlogs, she's been wearing 'Red Riding Hood' which once again is a deep red, although with slightly less blue undertones than 'Vixen'. So I clicked 'buy'. It is gorgeous. I have a picture of it on on my instagram. Both the consistency and colour is gorgeous.

Another little Tanya Burr purchase was a lipgloss in the colour 'Chic'. I'm not usually a lipstick person but things have changed. The colour is subtle enough for it not to be obvious (a good one for school or uni) plus it smells phenomenal - think essence of bubblegum. Without being too sweet. Celebrity makeup can sometimes be hit and miss but I'm glad I gave Tanya's a go because she has more products being released soon! Definitely try them!

Some of you fellow beauty bloggers will have heard of Makeup Revolution which is a phenomenal new makeup brand that was previously just online but can now be found in superdrug. What they do best is their Iconic palettes which are basically dupes of the Urban Decay Naked palettes. And they're brilliant. I've never had a Naked palette but when one for the price of £4 comes to your attention, what could I do! I have the Iconic 2 which is the Naked 2 dupe and I love it. It has a great range of matte and shimmery stage and although not initially overly pigmented, the colour builds really well, especially if you use a primer first. The only downside is that they don't have names like the Naked Palette shadows do.

And finally, those chocolate Bourbons which are my current favourite biscuit and currently live in my tin from Sainsburies labelled "Posh Biscuits only". No one mention that they were Tesco Everyday Value.

What are your favourites at the moment? Any recommendations for the cooler months?
