Hello Sailor

Get me with all these outfit posts. Some say miraculous, some say... Well.

The weather has still been annoyingly awkward and although it was bright sunshine when I took these, it was raining five minutes prior. Annoying. So I'm having to dress for transitional weather which means layering so that if it heats up, I can always peel things off to cool down (I ended up not wearing the jacket at all).

But I find wearing a dress underneath a jumper is a brilliant idea as the jumper helps you stay warm but the dress alone can be really summery. I think striped dresses are so flattering and versatile, I've worn this dress to work, out and to meetings - its what you wear it with thats important. I'm obsessed with this Zara jumper as it shows what you're wearing underneath and just adds a different texture to the mix.

And finally, I really think the sunglasses add something to the outfit. Mirrored lenses have been massive for quite a while and the blue tinge adds a touch more colour to an otherwise fairly monochrome outfit.

A jumper and dress combo has definitely been a go to option for me, what are your favourite options for cooler weather?

Metallic Finishes and Pointy Boots

So hello, yes an outfit post after what seems like forever.

But moving on, we're in that awkward time where it's starting to get quite chilly outside but it's not cold. I spotted this jumper on the Zara website and it's honestly lovely, it's ideal for transitional weather as it's not too thick that I overheat but adds a really lovely dimension as it's slightly sheer which just makes the outfit that bit more exciting than just a jumper.

However, I also have super exciting news and would like to let you all know that I'm going to be a brand ambassador for Designer Exchange which is an amazing company where you can buy, sell or exchange designer handbags for a new one! There are stores in Manchester, London and Birmingham as well as Madrid. Obviously, I use the Manchester branch where I spotted this metallic finish Givenchy Pandora bag which is actually priced at only £550 and is gorgeous. I've never owned a designer bag before so obviously I was slightly paranoid about damaging it but it's beautiful! Once again, I think it just adds something extra to the outfit - something a bit different to a standard black bag.

What do you think of the outfit? What are your go to's for transitional weather?

Avenue 32 Wishlist

I'm a massive believer in investing in pieces that will last forever, particularly things deemed as "basics", like denim. So I've picked some of my favourite pieces from Avenue 32 which stocks brands such as AG Jeans, Frame Denim and James Perse

AG Jeans are probably one of my favourite denim brands simply because one of my favourite people ever (Alexa Chung) has a line with them so naturally, my choices were from that collection. Despite most dungarees not looking the best on my figure, I still love them and think that they are so cute and really flattering. The ones in the image above aren't your standard slouchy 90s style but are more of a straight fit which will suit more people. Aside from dungarees, I've been obsessed with pinafore dresses and I think the fact that AG's is a beige/white denim really makes it unique compared to standard denim. Button up skirts are a massive trend this summer and they're absolutely everywhere in denim, suede, you name it. This is definitely a wardrobe staple and it looks brilliant for autumn and winter with a polo neck tucked in. And of course, a sweatshirt which is the perfect off duty look with distressed jeans. It looks so slouchy and I'm in love.

Another brand that has a celebrity name tied to it is Frame Denim where Karlie Kloss has a line with. I'm obsessed with Flared jeans at the moment. They make your legs look miles long and are flattering on absolutely everyone. I think they look amazing with flatforms for a casual day look but also look brilliant with off shoulder tops for the ultimate seventies throwback. And believe me, you don't have to look like Karlie Kloss to pull them off.

And finally, James Perse is a brand jam packed full of high quality basics in particular this slouchy white boyfriend v neck which looks lovely, who doesn't need a perfect white t-shirt? And finally, this khaki button up is so on trend with it's military colour scheme. Once again a perfect off duty look, ideal for slouchy sundays.

What do you think of my choices?

The Perfect Little Black Dress

A Little Black Dress is a wardrobe essential for everyone as they're the perfect dress for any occasion and can be dressed up or down.

A couple of months ago I attended the launch of Little Black Dress' Icon Collection launch and they were kind enough to give me a voucher for one of their dresses! I picked out the Zooey* which is inspired by none other than Zooey Deschanel who is probably one of my favourite actresses and her unique way of dressing is one of my favourite things about her!

The whole collection features numerous styles of dresses based on other icons so you're sure to find a dress based on your body type! The Zooey dress is a skater style dress with a slight v-neck but honestly it's so flattering! One of my favourite things about it is the fabric it's made out of - a scuba, neoprene mix.

I can't wait for the opportunity to wear this out as it's just so flattering- definitely the perfect kind of dress for a Christmas party!

Christmas Party Season

[Coat: H&M (sold out) | Shoes: JD Williams* | Jeans: Topshop Jamie | Top: Zara]

Christmas Party season is well on its way and finding the perfect item is so tricky! I'm not a dress person and really struggle coming up with an outfit that isn't just a blazer and trousers but this one is perfect. One of the ultimate parts to an outfits is the shoes and especially as it's so cold outside, these heeled boots are great. Reminiscent of Miu Miu designs with the steel cap toe, they're classic and look so good with anything.

I have a selection of coats and this black trench is perfect for the evening as it's a bit nicer than the everyday coat and makes the look appear a bit more put together! I'm definitely a monochromatic person which is why a white blouse was a no brainer. I've had this top for a while now and it's the perfect way to make an outfit a bit more formal and is once again so classic. I didn't manage to get a photo just wearing the top because it was freezing, but it has a really nice cape back - similar to the YSL cape blazer but for a fraction of the cost.

I've worn this outfit to a party the other week and had so many compliments on the shoes and they're so comfortable which means no sore feet at the end of the night!

The Purrfect Dress For Halloween

Halloween is next week (yikes!) where has October gone?

The shops are full of black and orange monstrosities and are ready for you to choose your halloween outfits, but for those of you who still want to embody a bit of the Halloween spirit without being too spooky and gross, I have the solution!

This Sugarhill Boutique Top Cat dress* is to die for, the enclosed note called this the "purrfect" dress and I must admit, I giggled! I don't typically wear green, in fact I run in the opposite direction but this actually suits me! I don't look ill! I love the rich emerald colour and the skater style is so versatile and flattering!

Although I have bare legs in the photo (apologies if you've been blinded by how pale they are), I'll be wearing this with tights and brogues throughout autumn - and I'm so excited to wear it! The dress is the perfect length and as I'm quite tall, I often worry about how short dresses could potentially be - but there will be no flashing in this unless I continue to swish it around.

I believe Sugarhill Boutique also stocks this dress in Mulberry but personally I like the green as it's more out there! Check out the Top Cat Dress* here.

Freshers Week Lookbook #1

[Dress: ASOS | Jacket: New Look | Clutch: ASOS | Shoes: New Look]

So Freshers is around the corner and with that comes notorious club nights and that means dressing for it. But unfortunately, most of the "party dresses" available are bodycon and not fun whatsoever as I don't like bodycon. So that meant that I've been inventive and have put together a lookbook that will consist of 4 different outfits which will be up here!

This dress is from ASOS and has a lovely sweetheart neckline and is a skater style dress but the dark colour means its perfect for people who may not be massively confident about their bum or thighs (like me!) It's quite versatile and could be very formal if you wanted it to be, but I felt the leather jacket really took it down to smart/casual. And the chunky necklace is ideal for filling in the open space that the neckline leaves!

This outfit is definitely more on the formalish side but have no fear, there are three more to come!

Outfit of the Day: Kimonos and Playsuits

Playsuit: Boohoo* | Bag: LYDC Bags* | Shoes: Converse | Rings: Primark | Necklace: ASOS (sold out) | Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters | Kimono: New Look

Summer is here!!!! If you can't tell by the brightness of these photos, the sun was out in full force and the sunglasses were more of a necessity than a fashion item.

I adore summer, partially because it reminds me of living in Asia and partly because everything feels better with the sun beating down. It gave me the perfect opportunity to wear my Boohoo Daisie Jersey Swing Playsuit without getting chilly legs! This playsuit is gorgeous - it's such a classic piece and perfect for festivals, beaches and general warm days where jeans aren't an option. But I'm not going to lie, I would probably wear it more had it been a bit longer. I do struggle with playsuits as I am 5"9 and wear a 34" leg so lots of playsuits are too short and mean my bum ends up hanging out and unfortunately, thats not a good look for me, which is why personally, I'd end up wearing this mainly as a beach cover up. I chose black because it can be a bit dressier but Boohoo has loads of different colours availiable on their website and ebay store! I threw on a New Look paisley kimono to cover my arms and make it a bit more summery!

The Alicia bucket bag is one of my favourites at the moment, I love big bags and have found the mini bag trend difficult as I love carrying around everything and anything possible! It is so roomy and slouchy and perfectly casual - it has a detachable shoulder strap so it can rest on the crook of your arm if you prefer! It easily fits my iPad which is all I could want in life - with numerous internal and external pockets for fitting basically everything. It's actually a bucket bag which are really on trend at the moment and have been worn by celebs such as Miranda Kerr who definitely knows a thing or two about fashion!

And shoes, well, converse are so versatile and absolutely perfect for summer (when they actually manage to stay white).

Makeup: Nude Dude H&M Lipgloss, L'Oreal Liquid Eyeliner, and Don't Bossa Nova Me Around Shellac Nails by OPI.

The MultiTie Dress: Summer Lookbook

[Dress from Goddiva*, clutch from ASOS, shoes from Next and coat from H&M]

[Dress same as before, necklace from New Look, clutch from Vera Bradley, shoes from Primark]

[Dress same as before, bag from Mulberry, shoes from Primark]

Summer is here and along with the scorching hot weather comes the wardrobe updates and in my case, out come the dresses!

One of my favourite new dresses is the Goddiva MultiTie deep V Dress* which is so versatile and perfect for summer. Despite it being bodycon of style, it is lined which means it isn't as clingy as some (which definitely worked in my favour!). As it is a more dressy dress, I would wear it out in the evening and above are several different ways to style it - both through the tying of the dress and what you wear it with! For the best use of the dress, I would recommend buying a strapless bra as it allows more flexibility - I wasn't able to embrace all the backless designs on offer!

I've also done a little video so please check it out, like and subscribe!

An Instagram Weekend: Derbyshire Wedding

As many of you are aware, I've been to Derbyshire and if you've been tracking #elliegoestoderbyshire you will know I also attended a wedding!

I had an absolutely fantastic time and a picture really does say a thousand words so I'll let them do the talking!

Arriving on the Monday, I spent a week which consisted of long walks, being chased by cows, walking, cooing at sheep, more walking and finally the wedding!

As wedding photos come out, I'll post more from then but I wore a H&M dress, H&M cardigan, ASOS clutch and New Look suede nude heels - my hair was in halo braids which you can find in the beauty section of my blog!
