Surbala by day:
Surbala by night:
Surbala is an absolutely amazing resort wear label based in Australia that is heavily influenced by vivid prints inspired by various walks of life and traditional techniques like hand block printing, tie & dye, hand embroidery etc. The label's name has been taken from a Hindi poem in which the poet refers Surbala to be a woman who is the epitome of beauty and grace. Elegant was one of the first words that came to mind when I received this stunning Monsoon blouse with tie detail in the post. The colours and the chiffon really do echo tribal prints that I would typically associate with exotic and far away lands.
One of the first things that grabbed me about the blouse was the tie detail down the front. I have actually never seen anything like it before, and was actually in awe at how much it added to the look of the top on a whole! The top which echoes styles similar to kaftans really does add a unique element with the various ties that help to add a more fitted look to an otherwise airy and floaty blouse.
As I live in a hot and humid country, the top is absolutely perfect as it can be worn over shorts and bathers to the beach or out for the evening over a singlet! Both ways, the lightness of the chiffon fabric enable it to be worn with heavy trousers without that annoying trickle of sweat.
For the day look, I paired the blouse with white linen shorts from Florence&Fred, wedges from NewLook, earrings from a market in Bangkok, floppy hat from Koh Samui and singlet from Primark. Altogether the bright yet beachy look would be absolutely perfect for those days out in summer whether it be to a picnic, the beach or a visit to the park.
For the night look, I paired the blouse with black skinny jeans from Indigo, singlet from Atmosphere, ankle boots from NewLook, necklace from NewLook, earrings from Forever 21 and bracelet from Marks&Spencers. This look is ideal for a date with a loved one or even to a sushi night with the girls!
In both looks I am wearing lipstick in 'Toffee' by 17 at Boots, eyeshadow in cookie dough by Collection 2000 and eyeliner and mascara by Rimmel London.
After this brief styling, I am unbelievably excited about wearing this top more, and plan to wear it more on my beach holiday in Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia!
One of my favourite aspects of the top is how fun and flirty it is with it still being sufficiently conservative; leave a little to the imagination ladies.
