Thai Designers Fashion Feature: Disaya

Disaya's latest pre-Spring/Summer 2013 collection is simply divine and her theme of 'Merry-Goes-Around' is really reflected in the designs.

I love the flirty style of the dresses especially the colour scheme. The outfits are just so cute and perfect for everyday!
Once again, the simplicity of the designs and the little details have created a collection that should be in the next W (hopefully we'll see this in soon)!

I am sorry to say that this will be my last featured Thai designer!

Thai Designers Fashion Feature: Vickteerut

Vickteerut is a Thai designer that I am absolutely in love with. Contrary to many designers, he does not follow the latest 'fashion' but designs for the people.

Similar to Thakoon, Vickteerut embodies feminity and uses simplistic designs that enhance the curves of the female body.
As an individual, I believe that Vickteerut's latest collection really reiterates Thai street style through the use of flirty outfits.

I adore the use of chiffon which makes some of his shorter ensembles more decent which makes them appeal to a wider audience.

I sincerely hope that Vickteerut is noticed soon as his designs are simply stunning.

Thai Designers Fashion Feature: Moo Eyewear

Moo Piyasomnatku is a quickly rising Thai designer. She specialises in eyewear with a unique twist.

Her recent NOIR Baroque collection has provided a much needed breath of fresh air to the fashion circuit as her statement designs are not for the faint at heart.

Celebrities such as Lady Gaga are fans of the quirky designs which has made her quickly rise to success.

You can have a look at her designs here.

Thai Designers Fashion Feature: Thakoon

Thakoon Panichgul is one of the most famous Thai designers. Having moved to the USA at the age of eleven he was exposed to a wide variety of designs. He attended and graduated from Parsons School of Design and in 2004 he produced his first ready-to-wear collection.

His latest Resort 2013 collection entwines feminity and striking designs to create a fun and flirty collection that can be worn by almost anyone!

A common trend amongst all his pieces is how simple they are but with the right material, the designs come to life.
The numerous amounts of dresses really add to the feminity as does the frequented V-neck designs.

There is a frequented use of vertical stripes which adds another dimension to the simple designs.

One thing which is relatively obvious is the lack of tight fitting outfits. This is unusual as recently there has been a prominent trend of skin tight lycra clothing.

Overall, Thakoon's latest collection is a breath of fresh air providing women all over the world with the opportunity to dress in florals and pastels.
Thakoon's simple yet elegant and sophisticated collection is a must see for everyone.
His designs are timelessly feminine and as romantic and sensual as they are modern and innovative.

Fashion Feature: Thai Designers

I figured that whilst I'm in Thailand, I should post at least one thing regarding Thai style.
Having lived in Bangkok for two years, I became accustomed to the street style which was pretty amazing. The majority of my friends went to the mall looking like they had stepped out of Vogue. There is very much a strong pressure on girls in Thailand to look good which was definitely reflected in their style.

Unlike many European countries, Thai girls dress in a very feminine way with lots of pink, frills and bows! However, they still look incredibly classy! One thing I noticed was how every girl over the age of 12 swapped glasses for contact lenses and donned their first pair of heels. I was initially somewhat incredulous to see such young girls dressed as if they were twenty but I soon got used to it.

When I first moved to Thailand, my street style involved a pair of shorts, flip flops and a basic t-shirt (the horrific result of having lived in a beach town for eight years!) but this soon changed. Within a week I was trying to copy my friends which proved difficult as a result of my 5"9 frame in comparison with their size 2 4"0 figures. But I did my best.

Transferring from Bangkok to Brunei proved to be a bit of a style wake-up call as suddenly I was surrounded by those who opted to wear traditional dress and lacked those mandatory heels!
Within days I was back to flats but I vowed to always leave the flip flops for the beach!

One thing Thai style has taught me is to always look presentable and classy, no matter what the budget and that there was always a way even with limited funds!

As a result I felt it necessary to write a couple of posts regarding some Thai designers that I am a fan of!
