With varying degrees of styles of afore mentioned dungarees, they can be purchased in any fabric or print from denim to cotton, allowing for them to be worn day or night, festival or dinner date. There are really no constraints to the variety that they can be worn.
I was in Singapore a week or so ago and every single shop I walked into had them. They were in the form of denim pinafores, long overalls, short ones, suspender-esque ones, there were literally hundreds of designs; Topshop even stocked a pair with a leaf print that verged on gaudy!
Alongside the trend for dungarees has been crop tops which seem to be in abundance at seriously cheap prices! Now I am assuming that these are slowly coming back due to the (predicted) hot summer ahead and the increasing number of high waisted bottoms from shorts to hi-lo skirts. Personally, I love them. If you have the body, you go out and rock them however you please, they probably won't be around enough for you to have a second chance! For me, it is simply more motivation to go to the gym. However, if you are a bit on the curvier side, you can still wear them with high-waisted outfits as it won't reveal your midriff, just probably try not to wear them with low slung jeans.
I love dungarees and will definitely be investing in a pair when I return for my GAP year (1 month to go!) and I can't wait to style them!
What do you think?
Love dungarees! Perfect for summer, but a question I have is, do you think these would be suitable to transition into colder seasons? I mean it hasn't gotten too cold here where I am but I've been wanting a pair of dungs for awhile and I'm wondering what's your input? And if they are transitionable, what types of dungs should I look into?
ReplyDeleteHi Izzy!
DeleteDungarees are so versatile! If it is warm weather, you can easily wear them with a tank top or singlet or even a crop top but as it gets colder, you can wear them over a jumper or sweater! If you live in a country that doesn't really get cold at all and remains in the mid 20's, you can always go for short dungarees as long ones may be too warm. Cropped dungarees are also a great buy! So try those xxx
