You're Never Too Old To Wear a Pinafore!

One thing that has always been a personal struggle is finding the willingness to step outside my comfort zone - something that has been experienced by many my age. This was echoed when I was sent a velvet pinafore, which is undoubtedly gorgeous but something I would never buy or even consider wearing! But it is truly hard to say no to something that arrives on your doorstep so I ventured into the unknown and can now truthfully say that I am in love.

Velvet is back and wearing this velvet pinafore from ASOS along with a longsleeved black top from BooHoo (with the very necessary tights) is ideal for the 'warmer' autumn days as jeans do get tiresome. To add a more casual edge, these Comme des Garcons converse from Hervia were the perfect solution; the whole outfit coming together as more sporty casual, without making me look like I belonged in playschool.

ASOS is the perfect website to find affordable and on trend pieces so I would highly recommend that you head over to their website and have a look around - of course there is the added bonus of free shipping which no one can say no to!

Happy halloween!

Vogue's Fashion's Night Out: Asos

I was fortunate to attend Vogue's Fashion's Night Out this year and it was a day unlike any other!

Wearing head to toe Asos, aside from my bag, I opted to walk to the train station in a pair of flats instead of the Hong Kong Heels (which were rather tricky to walk in, I must say!), and made my way into the city centre where I met a friend for a quick bite to eat before meandering our way down from the Arndale centre to Spring Gardens for our first event of the evening at a boutique called Hervia. Due to a busy schedule and not much time, we didn't spend huge amounts of time but spent long enough browsing the latest collections and enjoyed a quick drink and a bite to eat. All in all, it was a good hour spent, a nice evening and a decidedly nice shop.

Following the detour to Hervia, we moved on to H&M where we enjoyed our fifteen minutes (or should I say five) of fame in the photobooth, contorting our faces into silly faces to our hearts content! Check out my instagram for the photo; it was definitely a good laugh!

After Hervia and H&M came Selfridges which was absolutely jam packed! Yet again, we took our time wandering around the store, sampling the free food and drinks but eventually gave up squeezing in between the increasingly large number of intoxicated individuals and retreated to Starbucks, in time for a latte and a moment to rest now aching feet - heels are definitely not designed for comfort!

And that my friends, was the end of our evening in Manchester. Make sure you follow my instagram for real time updates at any future fashiony events!

Vogue's Fashion's Night Out - Hervia & The Arndale

On Thursday October 10th, I was fortunate enough to attend a couple of events as part of Vogue's Fashion's Night out in Manchester.

I was very fortunate to be wearing an amazing black chiffon playsuit and metal accented heels from ASOS which were the perfect combination of relaxed, casual style whilst still being dressy.

To be honest, as I had never attended such an event before, I was unsure as what I should expect but I was pleasantly surprised by what was on offer. After meeting up with a friend, Olivia for a quick bite at Nandos, we tottered off to Spring Gardens for the first event of the evening at Hervia.

Hervia Bazaar is a designer boutique located on Spring Gardens, just off Market Street that stocks brands such as Comme des Garcon and Jeremy Scott and many pieces from the new collection were on display! We were greeted by an amazing display of Asian sweets - some which brought back waves of nostalgia from my childhood in Malaysia! After browsing the store for a good portion of time, we grabbed a drink, chatted and moved on to our next location; H&M.

H&M on Market Street was set up much like a movie premiere, with red carpet and flood lighting, and Olivia and I took advantage of the photo booth, throwing in some of the props on display such as hats and fur coats, resulting in several silly photos.

Following numerous selfies, photos, drinks and conversations with various other attendees, Olivia and I retreated to the Arndale centre for a coffee and relax at the end of the evening - a very necessary come down after the constant buzz of the evening.

The night eventually drew to a close, with my taking off my ASOS heels and swapping into a pair of flats and eventually traipsing back home, arms laden with goodybags.
